About This Site

For reference, below is a summary of some of the methods used in the development of this website.

Graphic Design

The graphical elements of this site were designed by Tom Kerwin. He's professional wed designer and an avid lindy hopper from London, England.

PHP Structure

I based the php structure of this website off of templates and techniques I learned from Ben Holness. He's an independent programer from London, England and an avid Lindy Hopper. He also runs a free registration system for dance camps.

Web Template

This site is a modified version of Wolgang's Multifex-3 Webtemplate. I found it by using one of my favorite resources: Open Source Web Design

Photos

The majority of the photos were taken by Allison Michael Orenstein. A Professional Freelance Photograhper and Director from Brooklyn, NY.

Video

All video has been imbedded with YouTube.com code snippets for fast easy viewing, though it does require that you have Adobe's Flash Player installed in your browser. Videos can also me downloaded directly to your computer in various formats by clicking on the download link provided on each individual video page.

Drop Down Navigation

Drop down navigation bars are popular across the web. Most use javascript to show and hide the navigation, and these navigation systems can be problematic for some users. They also tend to make the pages less searchable. This site uses an HTML and CSS based drop down navigation system from Project Seven which is highly accessible and searchable.

(X)HTML Compliance

This site was built using web standards and it is coded to be valid and compliant (X)HTML.

Exception: The pages on this site which contain video do not validate as (X)HTML because they use the <embed> tag to embed the video clips on the page (standard practice when embedding flash). The embed tag is not included in the W3C specification for (X)HTML.
